Tim Tam Cake

It was Mr Sugar's birthday on Boxing Day, and Sarah made him a Tim Tam Cake. He loves chocolate and Tim Tam's are one of his favourite biscuits. For those of you unfamiliar with the delicious Arnotts Biscuit, a Tim Tam is composed of two layers of chocolate malted biscuit, separated by a light chocolate cream filling, and coated in a thin layer of textured chocolate. Yumm....

Sarah found a fabulous recipe for Tim Tam Cake over at Raspberri Cupcakes The cake looks like a giant Tim Tam and consists of two layers of light chocolate sponge, sandwiched together with a chocolate buttercream, and covered with chocolate ganache. It was cake that ticked all the boxes!

Needless to say, the cake didn't last long, and it was the perfect birthday treat!

I hope I don't short out my computer from drooling so much. We just got Tim Tams here in Canada a few years ago - they are SO good. May have to look into making this cake!

I've never heard of a Tim Tam cake, but it looks quite decadent, especially with the raspberries garnishing the plate.

Love the photography as much as the recipes. A great job in 2011 and looking forward to 2012. Hmmm maybe a recipe calander with a sewing project related to the time of year..... ah but you already do that.

Oh-em-gee. That just made my night. I live in the US but studied abroad in Australia for a year when I was 15. Tim Tam's changed my life. Ok, maybe that's a little much but I have a serious addiction to them. And it's been so long since I had one!!! I think the love affair started when my host Mom taught me that you could bite off the ends and suck your Milo up through the Tim Tam. Life changing I tell ya!! ;-)
