Washi Tape Deer

As soon as I spotted the sweet polka dotted deer over at Torie Jayne, I was completely smitten. As you know, I love to incorporate a bit of Japanese Washi Tape into my projects, and loved the idea of covering a wooden deer silhouette with washi tape to match our 2011 Christmas colour scheme of Red and Aqua. Unfortunately Panduro Hobby don't export to Australia unless you have a order over 1200 SEK. Not to be deterred, I remembered a white painted deer that I have in my Christmas decorations (purchased from Adairs a few Chrsitmas' ago).

Some red and white polka dotted washi tape, some aqua ribbon, and a glittered aqua bell, and the deer ornament has a new lease of life! The best thing about the project is the washi tape should peel off without damaging the paint so I can redecorate it next year to fit the theme.

Edit: Washi Tape is Japanese Masking Tape that comes in loads of gorgeous colours and patterns. You can find a great selection over at Crafty Japan.

Nice copying of someone else's work - I think that's called plagerism

Hi Theresa - sorry you are a no reply blogger - I am often inspired by others work. You will note in my opening sentence I linked to Torie Jaynes lovely deer project and attributed my inspiration to her. I also thanked her on her post and let her know I had linked to her.
If you check the definition of plagerism- you will note that it is when you pass off someone else's work as your own - this I have not done.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Don't you just love how you can see something out there in bloggy land and send all that love back out into the world by adding a bit of your own idea and inspiration based on what you have on hand into your own home? Love the original and love yours as well.. what a nice tribute to the power of arts and crafts to bring us together as opposed to divide us.

Holiday Cheer my Deer/Dear!
