I See Red, I See Red, I See Red

I can't get the words to the well known Split Enz song out of my head.  I have been seeing a lot of red as I pieced together my string quilt. I am not sure if I am really loving this one as much as I had hoped but will continue on. Perhaps with some white borders and a plainer backing I will like it more.  In any case it was wonderful to get back into some sewing today. My poor husband has been quite sick over the past 2 weeks so sewing time has been in short supply.

For more string piecing inspiration, head over to Loft Creations to see what Stephanie has been up to.

Sarah made us some delicious honey cookies for Valentines Day. Drizzled with some chocolate they were delightful.

While in Japan, I bought a copy of the January issue of Cotton Time which came with a lovely calender. Here are a few of the gorgeous projects featured -

Have a great week:)

Your red string quilt is coming along very nicely. Actually, it's quite striking. Perhaps once you put borders around it to "frame it in", you'll like it better. Sorry your hubby has been so sick. Hope he's now on the mend! ~karen

I really like your reds around white skinny centers ;) but I can understand how you may seem a little disappointed... perhaps you are just tired of looking at them. I'm sure once the quilt is done you will love it ;)

And seeing your post reminds me that I have a box full of string blocks - made up with 1930's around white centers... and I need to get them out!!! ;)

Love from Texas! ~bonnie

Those cookies look yum - well done sarah! I can't believe you made that quilt - it's amazing. The fabrics work so well together. I'm a long way off having that many different types of material but am working on it.... :o)

Like so many already said, the quilt looks great to me :) Maybe you'll like it better once you put a backing on and quilt it, give it a little dimension. That's happened to me.

I am amazed that you found so many reds and deep pinks...they're always the hardest for me to find that aren't Christmas themed.
