In celebration of Shrove Tuesday , I made up a batch of Apple and Cinnamon Pikelets. They were delicious, even if they didn't look quite as good as the ones I made for Du Jour. The kids enjoyed the last of them in their lunchboxes today.
Here is the recipe:
Ingredients:
1 cup self raising flour, sifted
One quarter teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda
Pinch salt
3 tablespoons sugar
Two thirds cup milk
1 egg
2 teaspoons butter, melted
1 apple, peeled and grated
Topping:
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons sugar
Method:
Add sugar to dry ingredients. Mix to a smooth batter with beaten egg and milk. Add melted butter. Stir though grated apple.
Heat and grease skillet. Drop dessert spoonfuls on to pan. Cook until bubbly on top, light brown underneath. Turn , cook other side.
Serve with cinnamon sugar sprinkled on top.
Makes approximately 18
I have just finished making some mats to use on the bedside tables in the guest bedroom. They match these cushions.
I received this lovely scrap pack in the mail last week as part of the Amitie Blog VIP. I have already put the fabrics to good use in a secret project.
Don't forget to check back on Saturday when Sarah will be drawing her giveaway!

I have started my first quilt with some Prints Charming fabrics I bought from Hot Possum. I have designed a simple brick quilt, and I plan to machine quilt it using a diamond pattern. I am going to call my quilt "Think Pink"!!
We recently celebrated our one year blogversary and made a donation to the Red Cross Bush Fire Appeal to mark the occasion. We have now decided to have a Think Pink giveaway as well. To enter leave a comment saying your favourite thing about the colour pink. You will win some pink goodies including my favourite Prints Charming fabric, a Matryoska magnet, pink moleskine notebook, plus some other goodies. We will do the draw on Saturday Feb 28.
Mum and I have been putting some finishing touches to our "Time for Tea" Swap this week. We will be able to reveal all in a couple more weeks!!

Today Sarah and I met up with Janelle and her daughter Rachael at the Inglewood Artisans Market. There were loads of gorgeous crafty items for sale. My favourite purchase was this trio of Mushrooms from Funky Fungi. I can just picture them at Easter time with eggs around them. I will set them up for an Easter Egg Hunt with my little niece and nephews!
I am between magazine projects at the moment, so had some time to make something for myself! I made up this monchromatic quilted handbag that was inspired by one I spied in this book.
Have a great weekend!

You may recall that last year our guest room got a big make over when it was turned into a sewing and crafting room for Sarah and I. It will need to be transformed back in the not too distant future when our interstate visitors arrive for Easter. I made up some new cushions for the bed in preparation.
Despite the hot weather, I decided to so some baking today. I found some sweet Valentine cupcake liners at Spotlight and was eager to use them. I made up a big batch of chocolate cupcakes and popped some in the freezer. Even though we don't really celebrate Valentines Day, it will be fun to have some cupcakes on Saturday. It was one of my favourite holidays when we lived in USA, and my kids made and exchanged Valentines with all their class mates.
Sarah and I celebrated the first anniversary of our blog this week. However with the recent tragedy of the Victorian bushfires we don't feel right about having a giveaway and will be instead making a donation to the Red Cross. We send our thoughts and prayers to all those affected in Victoria.

This issue also features another 12 of my quick craft projects. You may recognise the Passport Protector. We used the luggage tags and passport cover on our recent holiday and our suitcases were so easy to spot on the luggage carousel.
I was inspired by the lovely Plastic Bag Dispensers that Pink Penguin has been making so made one up this week. The one I have been using was made many years ago when I was going through a "country" phase and was definitely in need of a makeover! Now I use eco-friendly bags for my grocery shopping I don't have as many plastic bags to store so this one is perfect for hanging inside my pantry cupboard.

I always try and have home baked goodies for the lunch boxes. This week I stocked up the freezer with some Anzac Biscuits
and some Carrot Cake.
I have been busy working on some secret projects this week for a swap and a publication. One involves these sweet crocheted flowers (I see more of these in my future - I haven't crocheted in years and it was a fun project)
and this is the other.
I would like to thank Vlijtig for tagging us this week. Vlijtig makes really cute, hand carved stamps, as well as lot of softies, ceramics and more. She challenged us to show our 4th photo in our 4th folder - we have already done that one so will show are 6th photo in our 6th folder instead! This is of the kids in 2001.

Thanks also to Suzie from Little Busy Bee for our award. Pop on over for some quilty inspiration!
