To commemorate Australia Day tomorrow, Sarah and I are doing a toy drop for The Toy Society. It is a wonderful project that started in Melbourne in order to give people a "something for nothing experience" and to spread the love in the streets. The project has captured the hearts of people around the world and toy drops are occuring in many different cities. If you aren't familiar with Bianca's work, please drop in to the Toy Society and say hello. The website chronicles toy drops and finds. You may recall Miss Polly that I made last year. She is now ready for her adventure and has been packaged up all ready for her drop! We hope she finds a good home.
There has been lots of crafting here this week. I made up a little makeup pouch for Sarah. We found the sweetest lipstick fabric at Textile Traders recently.
We have also made up a banner for Sarah's teacher. Each year some of the Year 6 and 7 students participate in a long term research project called The Night of the Notables, where they research the life of a famous person. At the end of the topic there is an evening for the school community where they all dress up as their notable person and set up an interactive learning display and serve food from the era. It is such a brilliant project that really stimulates the kids in so many ways. My son researched Walt Disney and Robert Baden Powell, and Sarah did Sacagawea. This will be our final year at the school, so we have made a new banner for the teacher to use on the night.
Here is a sneak peek of an applique project that I am working on at the moment. I love to have some hand sewing that I can pick up in front of the TV at night.
We would also like to thank Soyee who tagged us this week. She has asked that we show the fourth photo in our fourth folder. It is a picture of the kids and I at Monet's Garden in Giverney on my dad's 60th birthday in 1999. We really enjoyed our year in France and Monets Garden was definetly one of the highlights!!

I've seen the Toy Society on Jodi's blog - it's a sweet idea. Gorgeous make-up purse with that fabric. And I love the pic of you and 'the kids'. I am always on the other side of the camera so those kind of pics are hard to come by...

I love the toy society ide, also, I live in Idaho where Sacajawea traveled through on her way to the west coast. All school children in Idaho learn about her in the 4th grade.
