Beaded Crafts

I love working with beads. Here are a few of my favourites!

Beaded Purses - These are great for coins and other small objects, you can hang them around your neck or clip them to your pants. I made these from the Klutz Book "Ribbon Purses".

I have also been busy making beaded dragonflies from Creature Features Website. These look great hanging on your window.

A Most productive Week....

We have been very busy this week. The kids have recommenced all their activities so I have been busy car pooling them to their various activities including: tennis, jazz, drama, and Guides. At work we are in the midst of relocating to a new, larger office so I have been busy packing and sorting through 6 years worth of accumulated stuff!

I decided to treat myself to a new coffee mug to use at work (a gorgeous bright red mug from Maxwell and Williams). I was inspired by Bend the Rules Sewing (which I have been reading this week) to make some coasters to match.

I have been inspired by the beautiful cushions made at Tutti Fruiti so have had a go this week designing my own Japanese inspired, indigo coloured cushions to jazz up our family room.

My WIP for the past year has been an appliqued lap sized quilt for Sarah's bed so she can have some extra warmth during winter. She chose all the fabrics but the project hit a snag when I got to the hand quilting stage and has sat in the sewing room gathering dust. I am now back on track with it and hope to have this UFO completed in time for winter. Thankfully with the TV ratings period back on, I have been happily quilting away whilst watching "Brothers and Sisters" and "Desperate Housewives" this week (under the air conditioner of course!) This week I have completed a table runner for her chest of drawers to match the fabrics used in the quilt.

Lincraft had their 1/2 price fabric sale on this week and I have stocked up on lots of luscious fabrics for next weeks projects. I hope next week is just as productive.......

We're Up and Running.....

Welcome to "A Spoonful of Sugar". We have some Valentines Day projects to share with you.

No-Sew Heart Shaped Pillow - this is a quick no-sew pillow made from contrasting colours of polar fleece by Sarah. See full instructions at Family Fun .

Pillow Case - This is a nice pillowcase that you can customise by using different coloured or patterned fabrics. It is a great project for anyone to make, especially beginners. Made by Sarah.

Lisa has been busy making "Owlsley" a quirky sock creature embellished with a felt heart. "Stupid Sock Creatures" has lots of creative ways to make use of those cast off socks!

With school resuming last week, we have been busy with lots of baking for the school lunch boxes. Sarah whipped up a batch of Caramel Mud Cakes - mmmm delicious!
